Packaging Machine removal
The Project was to deliver the Flexopress machine from Flowe-Pac, Mkondeni in Pietermaritzburg, to Star Packaging in Greytown who had purchased it.
The Flexopress unit weighs in at 4,3 tonnes, but has a sensitive bridge section that connects the two end frames. This needs to be lifted very carefully by two crane trucks by the end frames. It means that this operation becomes a delicate one with intricate work required.
Two crane trucks operated in a tandem lift operation to remove the Flexopress from the Flowe-Pac Manufacturing plant. It was rigged out with specials skates to move it through the factory to an external loading position.
The Unit was loaded as in-gauge onto a lowbed transporter along with all the accessories for transporting to the Purchaser. When it reached Star Packaging in Greytown, the unit was carefully offloaded and rigged into final position inside their factory, over a duration of two days.
Both Flowe-Pac and Star Packaging are producers of high speed flexible plastic packaging and bags, as well as laminated plain and printed packaging and bags.
Reef Rigging has undertaken various rigging projects and has a great safety record. Our projects include boilers, steel erections, food and dairy, manufacturing and factory relocations.
